Senior Management Positions

The Thompson Health Care 'Care and Services Committee' which includes the Proprietor, Operations Manager, Directors of Nursing, Human Resources Manager, Lifestyle Manager, and Property Manager meet every two months.

Thompson Health Care encourages and supports all persons appointed to Senior Management positions to attend external education courses.

Registered Nurses

Support is provided for Registered Nurses who are returning to the workforce. Our on-site educators provide Registered Nurses with education and support, particularly in documentation and medication management. All new staff are allocated to work alongside a mentor to enable them to become familiar with the Nursing Home Policies and Procedures whilst getting to know the residents.

Education opportunities are made available to Registered Nurses wanting to enhance their clinical skills. In addition Management Essentials Training is offered on-site to all Registered Nurses.

Education and support is offered by request to Registered Nurses wanting to move across into senior management roles. There are nine Nursing Homes within the Thompson Health Care group and promotion is always considered when management positions become available.

Nurse Educators

All educators are a part of the Learning and Development Committee. They ensure that all staff have access to education and training. They are supported by their onsite management. Regular meetings are held and more recently education for educators is being provided.

Enrolled Nurses

Thompson Health Care became a part of the Trainee Enrolled Nurse program in 2004. We have since designed specific roles for Enrolled Nurses with and without Medication Endorsement. Our Enrolled Nurses are offered access to the training programs offered to both the Registered Nurses and Assistants in Nursing.

Assistants in Nursing

Thompson Health Care pays above award wages to AINs with their Certificate III in Aged Care. The Certificate III course is offered onsite in Sydney and the Southern Highlands. New roles are currently being designed for AINs who have completed the medication modules form the Certificate IV in Aged Care (please speak with your Director of Nursing for more information about the new roles and associated education opportunities).

Head Chef

All Thompson Health Care Nursing Homes have an on-site kitchen. The Head Chef appointed at each home is in charge of preparing the residents meals, ensuring their high quality and managing the kitchen staff. They are provided with education and support to meet food quality and safety standards.

General Service Officers

Thompson Health Care employ GSO staff for kitchen, laundry and cleaning duties. The GSO staff form a vital part of the Nursing Home team and education to work in this unique environment is provided.

Recreational Activities Officers

The RAOs form a vital part of the Nursing Team, in particular in the management of residents with dementia. Working as an RAO can sometimes feel isolating, so Thompson Health Care provides education training days, three times per year, to provide staff with the opportunity to network with RAOs from different facilities and a chance to upgrade their skills.

Aromatherapists

Each Nursing Home has a dedicated Aromatherapists who runs the resident aromatherapy program and staff and resident relaxation sessions. Regular training in both aromatherapy and meditation / relaxation are offered to ensure that the Aromatherapists skills are kept current and they have a chance to network with each other.
